As part of the Australian Consortium for Social and Political Research (ACSPRI) Social Science Methodology Conference 2016, researchers from the VOSON Lab gave the following presentations:
Rob Ackland and Timothy Graham (University of Queensland) ran a five-day course on Social Media Analysis at the ACSPRI Winter Program, University of Queensland.
Dr Robert Ackland presented at two panel sessions at the International Communication Association (ICA) conference in Fukuoka, Japan:
Dr Robert Ackland presented on “Collecting and analysing online social network data with SocialMediaLab” at the 2016 CityU Workshop on Computational Approaches to Big Data in the Social Sciences and Humanities, event organised by the City University of Hong Kong and the Web mining Lab.
Dr Robert Ackland presented on "Frames and Fields on Twitter" and ran a SocialMediaLab workshop at the Science of Networks in Communities (SONIC) Lab at Northwestern University.
Dr. Ackland presented at Cyberinfrastructure for Network Science Center (CNS) talk series, Indiana University. The presentation compiled an introduction to the VOSON Lab and research undertaken over the years, to provide a Social Science perspective of the use of big data.
During his visit to Quello Center (Michigan State University) in early May, Dr Robert Ackland presented on social media and development at a Quello seminar.
A/Professor Robert Ackland gave a presentation and ran a SocialMediaLab workshop at the Network Science Institute, Northeastern University, USA, in April 26-27 this year.
As part of the ANU - Indiana University faculty exchange program, Robert Ackland ran the workshop: Collecting and analysing Social media data with SocialMediaLab, at the Social Science Research Commons Workshop in Methods Series, SSRC Grand Hall, 15th April 2016.
