October 2011 - Robert Ackland gave the following presentations:

October 2011 - Robert Ackland has been appointed a founding member of the Science Council of the Web Foundation's Web Index project. The Web Index will assess the political, economic and social impact of the Web, allowing for comparisons of trends over time and benchmarking performance across countries.

May 2011 - Hai Liang and Lingfei Wu, visiting PhD students from the Web Mining Lab at the City University of Hong Kong, presented at the Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation's (CSIRO) IR and Friends seminar series.  Hai presented on "Public expression in web forums: Structure characteristics, issue rise, and opinion climate" and Lingfei presented on "How Web1.0 fails: The mismatch between hyperlinks and clickstreams"

April 2011 - Hai Liang and Lingfei Wu, visiting PhD students from the Web Mining Lab at the City University of Hong Kong, presented at the ADSRI seminar.  Hai presented on "The structure of public expression and issue rise: Participation heterogeneity, concentration, and timing in internet forums" and Lingfei presented on "How the Web 1.0 fails: The mismatch between hyperlinks and user-flow".

March 2011 - Robert Ackland gave a presentation at the HC Coombs Policy Forum on Social Media, Privacy and Security titled Web 2.0: Context, Uptake and Implications.
